Monday, 24 October 2011 15:06
(JollofNews) - The President of The Gambia football Association, GFA, Seedy MB Kinteh, has been quoted by the
Daily Observer as calling on youths in the Lower River Region, to vote for President Jammeh in next month's elections. Mr Kinteh, reported the Observer, was speaking as he presided over football events sponsored by him in his region.
He told the youths that President Jammeh has nothing to ask from them but instead they are the ones who owe the President gratitude for al what he has done for them.
Kinteh who gave footballs to villages across the region, comprising the Jarra and Kiang districts, thanked the youths for coming to answer his call and urged them to support Jammeh as he seeks another term as president.
Local officials and youths in response thanked Mr Kinteh and promised him their support for the President November elections

Very unfortunate situation indeed.....But I must hasten to add that I am not sure in what capacity he made the alleged statement: As a private citizen or on official GFA mission.
Comment: Well said again Bax, this is why most of the time I like your comments here, as you've said this man was talking at a very local level call: "NAWETAAN" Is such competitions considered by CAF or even to FIFA level?
Also the man was making a conclusion of his speech by mentioning the Name of Arafang Yahya at the time in which our country is in these days.
So please let us wait till when we heard him saying such at our GFA league openning then we can talk on it, because that arena is considered by both the two International bodies (CAF & FIFA).
In the service of the truth I remain
Don't pass the buck...Grab the opportunity and take the initiative.... Good idea..
FIFA is against political interference in Football and I don't think they will take kindly to an official of a subsidiary association meddling in politics.
Kinteh may have the right to support a political party,as a citizen, but it is unwise to openly show support whilst a serving member of the GFA.
I do sympathies with officials of associations and organisations in The Gambia. Most are without a sound financial base and rely on gifts or donations to survive. But with donor funding steadily drying up,Jammeh is relied on by many,as he has become the biggest benefactor to many.
Recent predicaments of our players on international duty: No match fees; No food at hotel; No refund of air fares .... Are indications that things aren't alright at the GFA.
In fact, the udp campaign team for LRR has acquired a permit from the IGP today and will be descending on LRR on wednesday. watch out, seedy!
In fact, Seedy should be arrested and investigated for concealment for treason as he was a close friend to Lang Tombong Tamba. His day is coming.
